Funds Being Raised For Funeral Of Schaumburg Man Killed Riding Bike

Valentin Morales died on June 14 after succumbing to injuries sustained two weeks prior when he was hit by a car in Hoffman Estates.

SCHAUMBURG, IL — With services planned for Thursday and Friday for Valentin Morales, who died June 14 from injuries sustained two weeks prior when he was hit by a car in Hoffman Estates, a GoFundMe has been set up. Morales, 56, was cycling in Hoffman Estates on June 1 when he was struck by a car.

After being placed in a medically-induced coma, he died at Advocate Lutheran General Medical Center in Park Ridge. According to the GoFundMe, which has a goal of raising $15,000, Valentin leaves behind two children, three grandchildren and was "a friend to many."

"We are a group of extended family who would like to do all that we can to help Valentin’s daughter, Adilene, and his son, Jorge, while they navigate the decisions that now need to be made to get him to his eternal resting place," the GoFundMe reads.

Visitation for Valentin is planned for 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 7750 West Cermak Road, Forest Park. A funeral Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 1510 South 49th Court, Cicero. His complete obituary can be found here.

"All donations will go directly to Valentin's daughter, Adilene Morales, to help cover funeral and memorial costs and mitigate any unforeseen costs related to his hospital care," the GoFundMe reads.
