ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — Mentioning that just being invited was an honor, Arlington Heights Mayor Thomas Hayes said he learned a lot about Tem Williams during the resident's funeral last month.

"We so very much appreciate her involvement with the Arlington Heights Senior Citizen Commission and so many things over the course of her career and lifetime here in the Village of Arlington Heights," Hayes said of Williams, who died at the age of 82 on Feb. 20, during last week's Arlington Heights Village Board meeting.

Hayes called Williams a "great public servant" and praised her work on the commission since 2014. He said her advocacy for the installation of a warm water therapy pool at the Arlington Ridge Center was specifically pointed out by a fellow commission member.
