Man Shot Dead In Arlington Heights Apartment: Police

A resident at the apartment had an order of protection against the deceased, according to police.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — A 33-year-old Chicago man was fatally shot Sunday afternoon inside an Arlington Heights apartment. Police said the incident is being investigated as a contained occurrence, and there is no threat to the public.

Police are investigating a past relationship between a resident of the apartment and the man who died. The resident had an active order of protection against the man, which prohibited him from contacting the resident.

Police were called to the Arbor Lakes Complex in the 4200 block of North Bloomingdale Avenue at around 1:40 p.m. A resident of the complex had called 911 to report a male had been shot inside her apartment. First responders from the Arlington Heights police and fire departments, with assistance from Buffalo Grove police, immediately secured the scene.

A person who identified themselves as the shooter, along with the resident, met with police outside the apartment. It was learned the ma had been shot, and he was subsequently found inside the building on the ground level. The two parties involved were initially detained pending investigation.

Paramedics found the man with a penetrating gunshot to the upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
