Thousands Lose Power Due To Ice Storm In Arlington Heights Area
ComEd expects more than 80 percent of outages to be restored by Thursday evening.
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — A winter ice storm dumped freezing rain across the area, causing thousands of local residents to wake up without power Thursday morning due to downed power lines. According to ComEd, 80 percent of current outages in the region will be restored by Thursday evening.
"We appreciate your patience as crews work to restore outages," ComEd said on its website, adding that the majority of the outages not fixed by Thursday night will be restored by Saturday evening.
According to the ComEd outage map, nearly 90,000 customers in the north and northwest suburbs are currently without power due to around 2,400 active outages.
