Vehicle Stickers, Dog Licenses No Longer Required In Arlington Heights

The changes officially go into effect in 2024, according to Village officials.

The Village currently requires stickers, ranging in price from $12 to $75 if bought before Jan. 1 each year, to be displayed in the lower right-hand corner of windshields.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — Starting next year, residents will be "off the hook" for vehicle stickers and dog licenses in the village. According to officials, the changes were made following formal recommendations included as part of the annual budget planning process that began in March.

At a July Village Board meeting, Village Manager Randy Recklaus discussed the possibility of eliminating vehicle stickers during the next fiscal year.

"We've seen an increase in a lot of our revenue such as sales tax and state income tax that is helping us rely less on some of those locally generated revenues," said Village Manager Randy Recklaus as part of his report on a June 26 Committee-of-the-Whole meeting where the option was brought up. "We try to be very stewards of those revenues and try to keep our expenditures as flat as possible."
