Batavia Man Convicted Of Breaking 13-Year-Old's Pelvis

He pushed the victim to the ground, resulting in a fractured pelvis

On Tuesday, Russell R. Jenkins was convicted of aggravated battery for pushing a 13-year-old to the ground, which resulted in a fractured pelvis, according to the Kane County State’s Attorney Office. Kane County prosecutors said that at about 6:45 p.m. July 6, 2016, Jenkins and the victim were outside the Batavia Public Library. Jenkins became angry at the victim, and he shoved the victim to the ground. Jenkins, a 38-year-old Batavia man, weighed 230 pounds and the victim weighed 70 pounds. The victim suffered a fractured pelvis and multiple scratches, and the victim continues to recover from the injuries. Jenkins waived his right to a jury trial, and a judge convicted him of aggravated battery with great bodily harm and aggravated battery in a public place. His sentencing hearing is scheduled for June 8, and he faces probation or two to 10 years in prison.

According to DeKalb County Court Records, Jenkins was convicted of aggravated domestic battery in 2015. According to the Daily Chronicle, court records indicated that Jenkins hit slapped and punched a woman, and once she fell he kicked her four or five times. The woman later discovered that her orbital bone had been fractured in the incident. Jenkins was sentenced to 36 months of probation.
