REPEAT: McAuley Wins 17th IHSA 4A State Volleyball Title

Mother McAuley wins back to back state titles in a rematch of last season's championship game against Benet Academy at ISU's CEFCU Arena.

CHICAGO — The Mighty Macs took home their 17th IHSA state title, beating the Benet Academy Redwings Saturday in three sets at ISU’s CEFCU Arena in Bloomington-Normal.

Benet was in a redemption mode as they faced Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School in a rematch of last season’s championship. The Redwings stayed alive winning the second game, but McAuley triumphed taking it in three, 25-22, 18-25 and 25-16. The team is coached by Jen Dejarld.

Senior Ellie White capped off her McAuley career with 18 kills and 8 digs and Peyton Heatherly amassed 32 assists and 13 digs, the Daily Herald reported. White is headed to play Big 10 volleyball next year at University of Michgan, where she has been recruited as a setter. She is also fourth in the state with kills.

Mother McAuley will celebrate the volleyball team’s back to back state championship victories of the school's volleyball team Monday morning on the school’s campus, 3737 W. 99th St., Chicago.
