CHICAGO — Beverly neighborhood residents who use 99th Street as a thoroughfare should be aware of a planned closure that is expected to last for three days. The street will be closed to two-way traffic between Damen Avenue and Longwood Drive throughout much of the daytime hours on Friday, Feb. 22, Saturday, Feb. 23 and Sunday, Feb. 24.

The closure is planned to allow the Wide Open West (WOW!) internet, cable and phone company to install fiber optic cables at the intersection of 99th and Winchester. The company says the cables will be installed underground and that the resulting improvements will "enhance the speed and dependability of wireless communications in the area."

Traffic will resume normally in the evenings on each day of the project, which is set to be in motion from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

While the street is closed, eastbound and westbound traffic will be detoured to 103rd Street at Western Avenue and Longwood Drive. A flagger will be present during work hours to ensure a safe and orderly environment, the company said.

In addition, parking will be restricted between 9844 and 9915 Winchester Avenue during project hours.
