Weekly COVID-19 Cases Continue Downward Trend In Buffalo Grove

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, 3,189 people have contracted COVID-19 in Buffalo Grove since the outbreak began. That is an increase of 31 cases since Patch's last report on March 19. For comparison there was an increase of 30 cases between March 12-19 and 50 cases between March 5-12.

The Lake County Health Department reports there have been 56,158 confirmed cases in Lake County. That's an increase of 443 cases since March 19. For further comparison, there was an increase of 456 cases between March 12-19. In addition, there have been 947 deaths, marking an increase of two since March 19. For further comparison, there was an increase of three deaths between March 12-19.

The Lake County recovery rate from the coronavirus is currently 98.2 percent. Recovered cases are defined as persons with initial positive specimen collection date greater than 42 days who have not expired. The Recovery rate is calculated as the recovered cases divided by the sum of recovered cases and total deceased cases.

Coroner Questions Illinois' COVID-19 Death Tally, Seeks Statewide Audit

The IDPH reported 2,793 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in Illinois, including 20 additional deaths, on Wednesday.

Currently, the IDPH is reporting a total of 1,227,708 cases, including 21,136 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois. The age of cases ranges from younger than one to older than 100 years. Within the past 24 hours, laboratories have reported 79,381 specimens for a total of 19,805,516. As of last night, 1,261 individuals in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 269 patients were in the ICU and 130 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.

The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from March 17-23, 2021 is 2.8 percent. The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity from March 17-23, 2021 is 3.1 percent.

A total of doses of 5,853,915 vaccine have been delivered to providers in Illinois, including Chicago. In addition, approximately 414,900 doses total have been allocated to the federal government’s Pharmacy Partnership Program for long-term care facilities. This brings the total Illinois doses to 6,268,815. A total of 5,036,364 vaccines have been administered in Illinois as of last midnight, including 363,711 for long-term care facilities. The seven-day rolling average of vaccines administered daily is 97,680 doses. Yesterday, 107,219 doses were reported administered in Illinois.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reports 63,598 people have been tested across Buffalo Grove (zip codes 60069, 60089) as of Friday. That marks an increase of 2,342 tests since our last report on March 19. For further comparison, there were 1,638 tests between March 12-19.

According to the Cook County Medical Examiner, 34 people have died due to COVID-19 in the Cook County portion of Buffalo Grove since April 6. The last death happened on Feb. 15.

According to the medical examiner, the age breakdown for the 34 deaths are: 80+ (20), 70-79 (8) and 60-69 (6).

As of Friday, there have been 1,041 coronavirus-related cases in the Cook County portion of Buffalo Grove, according to the Cook County Department of Public Health. That marks an increase of 11 cases since March 19. For further comparison, there was an increase of 19 cases between March 12-19.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reports there have been 4,033 confirmed coronavirus cases and 534 deaths in long-term care facilities in Lake County. That marks an increase of 29 cases and 13 deaths since our last report on March 19. In the past, the IDPH has temporarily removed some cases and deaths on three occasions since Patch has been tracking these numbers, before including them back in at a later date.

These numbers include both residents and employees of the long-term care facilities.
