Burr Ridge-Area School Board Noted For Governance

It is one of only 33 districts recognized across Illinois. That's out of more than 850.

BURR RIDGE, IL – The board for Burr Ridge's Pleasantdale School District 107 was one of 33 across the state to be recognized recently for learning and practicing effective governance. The state has more than 850 school districts.

The board received the honor from the Illinois Association of School Boards.

"We will continue to put time, effort and heart into leading this amazing district toward excellence and enhancing the education and life of our students and families," board President Arlene Cabana said in a district news release.

Superintendent Dave Palzet said in the release, "They have a singular focus on what is best for kids and the community."

The board consists of Cabana, Tarryne Marchione, Mary Lenzen, Becky Walters, Bill Brockob, Charles Zona and David Negron.

District 107 is one of the state's wealthier districts, with just 8 percent of students considered low-income, compared with nearly half statewide, according to the Illinois Report Card.
