BURR RIDGE, IL – John Madden, Burr Ridge's longtime police chief, is retiring later this month after 34 years with the police department, the village announced Tuesday.

According to a Burr Ridge news release, the Village Board was notified of Madden's intention to retire at the beginning of the year. His last day is Aug. 24.

In 1989, Madden joined the police department as a patrol officer. He rose through the ranks to become police chief in 2009. His entire law enforcement career spans 42 years.
