BURR RIDGE, IL – If Burr Ridge goes with the low bidder, it will be $77,000 under the engineer's estimate for a sidewalk project, according to village records.

Earlier this month, Burr Ridge opened five bids for a sidewalk improvement project for 79th Street. Gilberts-based Copenhaver Construction was the low bidder at $569,825. The other bids ranged from $594,511 to $934,987.

According to the village, the project entails sidewalk and landscaping improvements along 79th Street. The plan is to replace the asphalt pathway with concrete on the south side. The village also plans to build a concrete sidewalk connecting Chasemoor Drive to the Lincolnshire-Ambriance pathway and street crossing at Woodside Lane.

Also, the crossing of 79th Street would include a new flashing beacon for pedestrian safety, the same as the devices recently installed on Wolf Road near Pleasantdale Middle School, the village said.

The village said $75,000 is requested from the total budget for a separate landscaping contract to restore trees and shrubs after the completion of the sidewalk. Work on that project is expected to be from September to November.

The village said more specific timing would be communicated to the subdivisions of Chasemoor and Burr Oaks Glen North and South.

The board is set to vote on the bid for the sidewalk project at its meeting Monday night.
