Burr Ridge's Virus Rate Higher Than Cook County's: Agencies

The village sees one more coronavirus-related death in the last week.

BURR RIDGE, IL — In the last week, Burr Ridge has seen an increase of 52 new coronavirus cases, for a total of 790, according to county health authorities. That represents a 7 percent hike, higher than the previous week's 4.8 percent.

The virus has infected 7.3 percent of the town's population.

Of local coronavirus victims, the mortality rate is 3.7 percent. Since the start of the pandemic, the village has had 29 coronavirus-related deaths, most of them at nursing homes. One of those deaths was last week.

As of Sunday, Burr Ridge had 73.4 coronavirus cases per thousand people, which is higher than suburban Cook County as a whole. The figure compares to 51.7 in La Grange Park, 56.8 in Darien, 57.1 in Western Springs, 59.8 in Hinsdale, 65.7 in DuPage County, 66.2 in Elmhurst, 66.6 Clarendon Hills, 71.4 in suburban Cook County and 78.5 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands).
