Burr Ridge's Virus Rate Worse Than Suburban Cook's: County

The village's rate of increase for coronavirus cases fell in the last week.

BURR RIDGE, IL — In the last week, Burr Ridge saw a 9 percent rise in coronavirus cases since the beginning of the pandemic, according to county health authorities. That's lower than the previous week's 12 percent.

As of Sunday, Burr Ridge had 672 cases, up by 58 from a week earlier, according to county health authorities. The virus has infected more than 6 percent of the town's population.

Of local coronavirus victims, the mortality rate is 4 percent. Since the start of the pandemic, the village has had 26 coronavirus-related deaths, most of them at nursing homes.

As of Sunday, Burr Ridge had 62.5 coronavirus cases per thousand people, worse than most of its neighbors, including suburban Cook County as a whole. The figure compares to 43.7 in La Grange Park, 48.6 in Darien, 50.1 in Hinsdale, 50.3 in Western Springs, 56.3 in Clarendon Hills, 57.2 in Elmhurst, 57.4 in DuPage County, 61.8 in suburban Cook County and 67.9 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands).
