3 More Inches Of Snow Possible Monday, Then 'Pleasant' IL Weather

CHICAGO, IL —After a warm Saturday with temperatures near 70 degrees in the Chicago area, winter weather moved back in Sunday — and the snow isn't over.

Another 1 to 3 inches of snow could fall this morning across the Chicago area, with the highest snowfall totals north of I-88, the National Weather Service said.

The snow is expected to end around midday Monday before several "quiet weather days" in a row, NWS said.

On Monday morning, drivers should look out for slushy snow accumulation on roadways and reduced visibility, along with the potential for slippery areas.

Snow totals so far

As of early Monday morning, 1.3 inches of snow had fallen at Chicago's O'Hare airport, 1.1 inches were measured in Rockford, and both Romeoville and Midway airport saw about half an inch.

'Pleasant' weather ahead

The National Weather Service said "pleasant conditions" are expected Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, before the Chicago area sees a chance of a rain/snow mix on Thursday night.

More snow could hit during the day Friday and Friday night, according to officials.

Temperatures will hover in the high 30s and 40s for most of the week, dipping into the low 30s on Friday.
