4 Noteworthy Things That Happened During First Week of Fall Veto Session

Here's what's happened during the first week of the six-day fall veto session.

After just two days, the Illinois House and Senate ended the first week of the six-day fall veto session early and are not scheduled to return until Nov. 29.

Aside from some meandering meetings between Gov. Bruce Rauner and the four legislative leaders, there isn’t any tangible progress on solving the budget impasse which now has pushed the state’s unpaid bill backlog to $10.59 billion.

However, the Senate did manage to muster supermajority votes to override Rauner’s vetoes of some significant legislation. Here are several bills that must now be cleared by the House, where 71 votes are needed for a full override of the governor’s vetoes.
