CHICAGO — Commuters relying on the Metra BNSF are dealing with extensive delays after inbound and outbound service was halted Tuesday morning.

Metra officials announced that trains were halted in both directions at Cicero Avenue due to a bridge strike. However, the train line began for both inbound and outbound commuters just before noon. However, Metra officials said customers could expect delays in reaching their destination.

The delays come a day after Metra’s Rock Island line suspended service for several hours on Monday morning after a train derailment at 15th Street. Service in both directions was halted and eventually resumed early Monday afternoon with delays.
