Boater Still Missing After Falling Into Lake Michigan Over Weekend

Dive searches Saturday and Sunday were unsuccessful, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

CHICAGO — A man fell off a boat and disappeared into Lake Michigan over the weekend in Chicago, according to authorities.

The Chicago Police Department’s marine unit responded around 4:30 p.m. Saturday to the 1000 block of North Lake Shore Drive near Oak Street Beach after the 58-year-old fell into the lake, police said.

Dive searches Saturday and Sunday were unsuccessful and the investigation remained active Sunday night, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

A woman died Monday, a day after a boat that set sail from Evanston capsized in Lake Michigan. A second woman managed to swim the whole two to three miles to the shoreline in Winnetka, where she notified authorities of her missing companion.

And a 16-year-old boy also died Monday after a raft flipped on Lake Michigan, sending him and a 16-year-old girl into the water. The boy was pulled from the lake by fire department divers, while the girl was brought to shore by witnesses and survived.
