CHICAGO — A Chicago woman is missing after she disappeared while at a yoga retreat in the Bahamas, according to her family and authorities.

Taylor Casey was last seen June 19 on Paradise Island and the Royal Bahamas Police Force issued a missing person flier about the 41-year-old’s disappearance June 21.

Casey was in the Bahamas to participate in the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat Bahamas, according to her family, who said she has practiced yoga for 15 years and has a vibrant and loving personality.

“I believe Taylor is in danger because she was eager to share her yoga retreat experience with others upon her return,” her mother, Colette Seymore, said in a news release from the family. “Taylor would never disappear like this.”

Semyore planned to travel to Paradise Island and Nassau to work with authorities, according to the news release.

In a prepared statement, the yoga retreat said it had asked police to investigate and contacted the U.S. Embassy and Casey’s family after she failed to attend classes the morning of June 20, having last been seen at the retreat late the previous evening.

"The Ashram is asking anyone with information on Ms. Casey to contact the local police," the statement said, noting Casey was attending a certification retreat. "In the interim it is collaborating with the authorities on their investigation."

Police described Casey as slim with a light brown complexion. She is 5 feet, 10 inches tall; weighs 145 pounds; and has brown eyes and natural brown hair she often wears covered by a durag, according to her family.

"We are deeply concerned for Taylor's safety and well-being," Seymore said in the news release. “We love Taylor and want her home.”

Casey’s loved ones have started a fundraiser to cover travel expenses and pay for a legal team to navigate the search.
