Chicago aldermen bolstered the city's penalties for burning rubber on city streets.

  • Construction crews removing siding on a two-flat in Lake View from the 1890s exposed "ghost" advertisements painted on the original wood siding. The colorful painted signs promoted Shell Gasoline, Soft Bun Bread and an auto repair shop. (NBC5)
  • Police issued a warning to folks in Wicker Park to be on the look out for a man wanted for exposing himself and chasing women. (NBC5)
  • "Three armed robberies were reported in Lincoln Park, Streeterville and Wicker Park in under an hour," Cate Cauguiran reports. One victim said three or four robbers "pointed guns at us and said, 'Give me everything now." (ABC7)
  • The DEA wants Lollapalooza revelers to be wary of buying dangerously laced drugs at the music festival in Grant Park. "There's going to be people walking around ... selling pills that are going to be laced with fentanyl. There's not a doubt in my mind," a DEA official said. (FOX32)
  • Celebrity chef Art Smith's new Southern restaurant "Reunion" is Navy Pier's new flagship culinary destination. Fried chicken, salads, sandwhiches and CBD baked goods are on the menu. Smith said he wants to add a drag brunch. (Eater)
