Brad Alan Blue

Age 60, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2023, at the OSF St. Elizabeth Hospital in Ottawa with his family by his side. Brad was born in Ottawa, IL on October 19, 1962, to the late Daniel and Betty Jean (nee Kolotka) Blue. He graduated from Marseilles High School, class of 1980, and then earned his Bachelor's at Eastern Illinois University, class of 1984. Brad retired from M&M/Mars after 28 years of dedicated service. While at M&M/Mars, Brad met the love of his life, Patricia "Patty" (nee Wiegmann), and the two most recently celebrated 12 years of marriage. Brad and Patty enjoyed their time together traveling. Brad was an avid White Sox and Blackhawks fan. His love for grilling and cooking was apparent at his annual Blue's Fest Party at his home where plenty of great food was to be had. He enjoyed gambling at the boats and other establishments. Brad's greatest love of all was spending time with his children, grandchildren, and puppies.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Patty; his children, James "Jimmy" Blue, Bethany Blue, Caitlyn Blue, and Emily Miller; his grandchildren, Cheznie, Annalie, & Ava, Lilly & June, and Tucker; one brother, Daniel Blue, Jr; brother-in-law, Bill Smart; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Brad was preceded by his parents; his sister, Kathy Smart, and his nephew, Ryan R. Smart.

The family would like to give their thanks to the wonderful staff at the Morris Hospital for the professional & compassionate care given to Brad in his last years. In his last act, Brad was an organ & tissue donor through Gift of Hope. Memorials in his name can be made to either of those organizations.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2023, from 4-8 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 W. Route 6, Morris. Funeral services will follow on Friday morning, June 9, 2023, with visitation continuing from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Ottawa Avenue Cemetery, Ottawa.
