CHICAGO, IL — A woman was killed Thursday morning in the Terminal 5 baggage handling area at O'Hare International Airport, according to reports.

The woman was in her forties, according to ABC Chicago.

She died after she became trapped in machinery — reportedly a conveyor belt — in an area that the public does not enter, the Chicago Fire Department told WGN.

The woman's identity was not immediately released. Multiple outlets reported a large emergency responder presence at O'Hare Thursday morning.

It wasn't clear if the woman was an airport employee or a traveler.
