Ikigai Sushi & Izakaya, located in River North, has unveiled a duo of new dining options this summer. Ikigai ("reason for being") offers thoughtful, authentic Japanese tavern fare and sushi by Chef Jeff Waiyachote (Sen Sushi Bar; Sushi-San; Momotaro).
In addition to the nightly dinner menu and drinks menu, guests may partake in happy hour (Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday) from 4:30-6 p.m. The happy hour menu includes select zensai (appetizers), kushiyaki (skewers), makimono, beer, sake and wine at a discounted price.
Those looking to experience a tasting menu may reserve Ikigai's intimate omakase held at the sushi bar. Chef Waiyachote's offerings include 15 or more courses for $149 per person. The omakase is available Friday and Saturday evenings at 7 p.m. Reservations must be made one week in advance.
