CHICAGO — Following a mild stretch of springtime to close out the workweek, Chicago area residents won’t need their snow shovels, but will want to keep an umbrella handy.

After temperatures pushed 70 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday, cooler air has moved into the area. The National Weather Service said that the region could see several days of rain ahead starting Friday when precipitation is expected to move into the area sometime after noon.

Temperatures will struggle to reach the mid-40s on Friday — a drastic difference from the past couple of days, forecasters said. Clouds will hover and winds could gust up to 30 mph and most of the greater Chicago area will see rain throughout the afternoon and evening hours before rain continues overnight into Saturday.

Sunday will bring some sunshine and milder temperatures which will push back near into the 60s before rain returns again on Tuesday and remains in place for much of the week.
