What's the Average Teacher Salary in Your District?

A look at which districts have the highest and lowest average teacher salaries in Illinois.

During the 2015-16 academic year, the average annual salary of the more than 127,000 full-time public school teachers in Illinois was $63,450, according to employment data from the State Board of Education.

But depending on the type of district, its location, and the level of education and years of experience among teachers, average salaries can vary significantly across districts, from more than $110,000 to as low as $26,000.

For example, teachers in Maine Township HSD 207 earn the highest average salary in the state at about $111,000, while their counterparts in Farrington CCSD 99 take home the lowest at little more than $26,000 a year.

Comparing these two districts, however, can be misleading, especially when you look at the size of each one...
