LITH Man Plans To Open Italian Restaurant In Crystal Lake

A longtime restauranteur will be stepping out of retirement to open the dining establishment at 1560 Carelmont Drive.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — A longtime restaurateur plans to exit retirement to get back into the dining game at age 73.

The Daily Herald is reporting Dominic Florio, of Lake in the Hills, plans to open Florio's Italian at 1540 Carelmont Drive, in a building that was formerly used for office space. His dishes will be inspired by Southern Italian food and will include meals with pasta, veal, chicken and seafood.

The space will seat 20 at the bar and 90 at table, according to the article. Florio will be serving up some of his favorite recipes at the restaurant, including a chicken dish that has spinach, crusty bread and red peppers.

“It’s the way that I make certain things that are different,” he said. “And I think they’ll like it.”
