Darien Police Reports: Vandalism, Car Burglary, DUI

Darien Police Department reported crimes through Aug. 7.

A resident in the 7100 block of Richmond Avenue reported that between 12:30 and 5 a.m. Aug. 1, someone spray painted on the overhead garage door. The painted design does not appear to be gang related. Estimated value of damage is $150.

Between 7 a.m. and 3:05 p.m. Aug. 1, someone entered a locked vehicle parked in the 8100 block of Mystic Trace. There were no signs of forced entry. Various power tools and power tools were stolen with an estimated value of $2,500.

Angela Chatman, 27 of the 2100 block of Prentiss Creek Drive in Downers Grove was arrested Aug. 3 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal transportation of alcohol and speeding in the 7900 block of Lemont Road. Chatman was processed and released with a court date of Sept. 6 in Wheaton.

Between Aug. 2 at about 11:15 a.m. and Aug. 3 at 7 a.m., someone removed all four tires from a vehicle parked in the 2300 block of Sokol Court. Estimated value of loss $1,000.

A resident in the 600 block of 71st Street reported that between Aug. 2 at about 8 p.m. and Aug. 3 at 7 p.m. someone stole a bicycle from the driveway. Estimated value of loss $269.

Between Aug. 2 at approximately 1:30 p.m. and Aug. 4 at 10:30 a.m., someone stole a Zhejiang gas scooter from the parking area of the Speedway gas station located at 10250 Lemont Road. Estimated value of loss $1,000.

A resident in the 2900 block of Harvest Place reported that between Aug. 3 at approximately 7 p.m. and Aug. 4 at 1:25 p.m., someone entered a locked vehicle parked in the driveway. There were no signs of forced entry. U.S. currency in the amount of $5 was reported stolen.

A resident in the 8300 block of Captons Lane reported that between noon and 6:50 p.m. Aug. 4, someone stole a bicycle from the garage of an apartment complex. Estimated value of loss $1,500.

Fredy Torrijos-Quintana, 23 of the 1100 block of S. Williams Street in Westmont, was arrested Aug. 5 and charged with no valid driver’s license when he was involved in a single party accident in the 400 block of Plainfield Road. Torrijos-Quintana was processed and released with a court date of Aug. 18 at the Downers Grove Field Court.

Bryant Middleton, 45 of the 4000 block of S. Michigan in Chicago, was arrested Aug. 5 and charged with driving while license suspended in the 8900 block of Lemont Road. Middleton was processed and released with a court date of Aug. 25 at the Downers Grove Field Court.

Jose Gonzalez, 46 of the 300 block of Wallace Way in Romeoville, was arrested Aug. 6 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to signal when required and improper lane usage when he was weaving in and out of traffic in the 8700 block of Lemont Road. Gonzalez was processed and released with a court date of Sept. 6 in Wheaton.

A resident in the 1600 block of Lakeview Drive reported that between Aug. 5 at about 6 p.m. and Aug. 6 at 7 a.m., someone entered an unlocked vehicle parked on the driveway. Nothing was reported stolen at the time of the report.

Jose Torres, 21 of Lake Drive in Willowbrook, was arrested Aug. 7 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, BAC over .08, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and disobeying a stop sign at N. Frontage Road and Clarendon Hills Road. Torres was processed and released with a court date of Sept. 6 in Wheaton.

Willard Hein, 74 of the 7600 block of Brookhaven Avenue in Darien, was arrested Aug. 7 and charged with unlawful use of a weapon when he concealed a handgun on his body without obtaining the Illinois Concealed Carried Permit. The arrest stemmed initially from a verbal altercation with a neighbor that occurred in the 7600 block of Warwick Avenue. Hein was processed and released with a court date of Sept. 13 in Wheaton.
