DBR Chamber Business of the Year Awards Presented

The DBR Chamber of Commerce presented 2 local businesses with Business of the Year awards for 2022.

The DBR Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the Annual Business of the Year Award was presented this year to two Deerfield businesses. Deerfield Auto and Tire Clinic and The Wild Roaster were presented with awards at the DBR Chamber of Commerce 95th Annual Holiday Luncheon on Thursday, December 8, 2022.

The DBR Chamber of Commerce presents this award annually to a Chamber member business that has shown outstanding service and/or products and has made a positive effect on our communities.

Rich Harris has owned and operated Deerfield Auto and Tire Clinic in Deerfield since opening in 1961. Rich started the business at only 20 years old. As one of the oldest family owned businesses in our communities, Rich Harris and Deerfield Auto and Tire Clinic are an icon of Deerfield. Iconic not only for longevity, but also the professional customer service delivered at honest prices with forthright integrity that keep customers and the community coming back.

The Wild Roaster owned by Kaye Kharasch opened at the Lake Cook Road train station in 2017 also receive an award as Business of the Year. This family owned business is operated by Kaye Kharasch and her husband Izzy. You will often see their two daughters Ellie and Arie working in the store when they are home from college.

Kaye and The Wild Roaster have become an important part of our communities. Kaye is known for her positive attitude, sense of humor, generosity and kindness. Kaye donates to every community event including coffee and hot chocolate to those standing in line to vote in the rain on election day. The Wild Roaster is a family-owned business that is small enough to get to know its customers and to be deeply involved in local events, but large enough to offer customers outstanding products.

In addition to the Business of the Year, the DBR Chamber of Commerce presented a Volunteer of the Year award to Nancy Milota, Deerfield Bank & Trust for her outstanding efforts to the DBR Chamber Board of Directors. Nancy has been an active member of the Board of Directors since 2019. Since that time, she has held the position of Treasurer on the Executive Committee and as the facilitator of the Professional Women’s Luncheon Not for Women Only.
She is an outstanding volunteer at community events and when a volunteer is needed, Nancy always jumps right in and gets the work done. She’s like an electric fireball who motivates, inspires and actually does the work, doesn’t just talk about it. Nancy’s professionalism, philanthropy, sound business advice and support of the Chamber’s work have been an asset to the Chamber.
