Deerfield Football Playoffs: Warriors Face Mather In First Round

Deerfield (8-1) is a No. 4 seed in the Class 6A playoff bracket.

DEERFIELD, IL — It was a strong fall for the Deerfield High School varsity football team as it posted an 8-1 record in the regular season. Next up for the Warriors is the Illinois High School Association playoffs.

The IHSA released the postseason brackets and seedings on Saturday. Deerfield, a No. 4 seed, squares off with No. 13 seed Mather (6-3) in a first-round contest of the 32-team Class 6A playoffs. Kickoff is 7 p.m. Friday for the home contest at Adams Field.

The Warriors, who finished undefeated in the Central Suburban (North), are coming off a 50-18 win over Niles North. The win propelled Deerfield to the conference championship.

The Rangers, who finshed second in the Chicago Public Illini - Windy City conference, were beaten by King, 30-13, in their final regular season game.
