Deerfield RB Woodson Named To All-State Football Team By Coaches

The Illinois High School Football Coaches Association released its all-state first team and honorable mention selections for all 8 classes.

DEERFIELD, IL — A solid fall for Luke Woodson became even more memorable with Tuesday's announcement he had been selected to the Illinois High School Coaches Association's First Team for Class 6A. The Deerfield senior running back/linebacker (5-foot-11, 190 pounds) was coached by Steve Winiecki.


Deerfield (9-2) was knocked out of the Illinois High School Association playoffs on Nov. 5 by Crystal Lake Central. On offense, Woodson tallied 1,425 yards, 20 touchdowns and was named the Central Suburban League North Offensive MVP. He is a three-time all-conference member.

On defense, Woodson registered 101 tackles, 10 tackles for a loss, four sacks, three interceptions and a touchdown.
