DEERFIELD, IL — While it's essential that Illinois restaurants and bars with outdoor seating follow strict guidelines set forth by Gov. J.B. Pritzker if they reopen Friday, Deerfield Mayor Harriet Rosenthal is also expecting customers to do their part in being safe and responsible. The state is set to officially enter Phase 3 of Pritzker's Restore Illinois plan.

"The Village is working with the DBR [Deerfield Bannockburn Riverwoods] Chamber of Commerce to help educate businesses about these new guidelines, but it is important that residents learn what is expected of them before entering a business," Mayor Harriet Rosenthal said in the latest e-newsletter.

According to a survey conducted by Patch, residents are anxious about returning to dining establishments (by a 66-34 percent margin). In addition, 56 percent of respondents believe these establishments are unsafe, while only 23 percent plan to dine out this weekend.

Patch reached out to the DBR Chamber for a list of restaurants and bars that will be open Friday, but were told the list is still being compiled. The chamber is using its Community Text Program to share information about who will be open. Text "DBR" to 55678 to join this resource for both businesses and residents.

"Please 'Shop & Eat Local' to maintain the vibrancy of our businesses and restaurants," Rosenthal said. "Phase 3 is new to all of us. It will take some getting used to, so please be patient and pleasant. Remember, we are all in this together."
