Deerfield Road Paving To Occur Wednesday, July 29

Weather depending, the contractor will pave the first layer of asphalt on Deerfield Road between Wilmot Road and the Metra underpass on Wednesday, July 29.

In an effort to minimize traffic disruptions during the day, this work will begin at 4 a.m. The early start will enable to contractor to complete paving within the vicinity of Chestnut Street and the underpass before the morning commute. Due to the narrow width of Deerfield Road near the underpass, the early morning work will require a full traffic detour between the hours of 4 a.m. and 7 a.m. It is anticipated that the contractor will complete the paving by the end of the day.
This work will require the use of flaggers to direct traffic around the paving operation and will result in major traffic disruptions. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes if possible to avoid delays during their commute.

Prior to the paving, the contractor is required to install fresh oil to the existing pavement. This work will occur the night before the paving operation. “Fresh Oil” signs will be installed throughout the time period when asphalt paving will occur. The use of fresh oil helps different layers of asphalt to adhere to one another providing a longer-lasting final product. Residents should be mindful of driving through fresh oil. If motorists must drive through fresh oil, please do so slowly. Driving at higher speeds through fresh oil may cause the material to adhere to the undercarriage and/or fenders of the car, which can be difficult and costly to remove.

The Village would like to remind all motorists to be alert while driving through the construction zone as traffic patterns and closures may change. The Village appreciates your effort in helping to complete this improvement.
