Deerfield Runners Conquer Chicago Marathon

Thirty-three local runners finished Sunday's 26.2 mile race.

CHICAGO — It may have been a long wait, but for the participants in the 43rd edition of the Chicago Marathon, it was worth it. Not run since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Sunday's race was filled with local participants. There were 33 Deerfield runners that finished the marathon.

The marathon was won by Seifu Tura, of Ethiopia, and Ruth Chepngetich of Kenya, in 2 hours, 6 minutes, seconds, and 2:22:31, respectively The wheelchair race was won by Daniel Romanchuk and Tatyana McFadden, both of the United States, in 1:29:07 and 1:48:57.

Participants in this year's race were required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of attending the event
