The Hottest Temperatures and Years Ever Recorded in Illinois

Finally, some prolonged summer weather!

After donning jackets during the first week of June, we’ll finally get our first, prolonged taste of summer this week as temperatures are expected to hover around 80 degrees.

While Illinoisans are used to all this wacky weather, it’s been a while since we’ve seen an unprecedented heat wave in the northern part of the state. And now that it actually feels like summer, we took a look at some of the hottest temperatures and years ever recorded.

Along with the state’s record high of 117 degrees set in July 1954 in East St. Louis, here are the nine hottest temperatures and 10 warmest years in Illinois since records have been kept.
