Longtime Village Trustee Seiden Dies: Village of Deerfield

William "Bill" Seiden, who was currently serving on the board, had been a trustee since 1999.

DEERFIELD, IL — William "Bill" Seiden, a current member of the Deerfield Village Board, died Thursday following a brief illness, according to the Village. Seiden, who was re-elected last year, had been on the board since 1999.

Saying he is "leaving an indelible mark on the fabric of our community," the Village announced Seiden's passing in a Friday afternoon e-newsletter.

In addition to being a trustee, Seiden chaired the Village's Residential Teardown Taskforce. Prior to his becoming a trustee, he served as a Deerfield Public Library trustee for six years and acted as the Village's liaison to the library after joining the Village Board. Officials said the Village flag has been lowered to half-staff in his honor.

"Bill brought his professional business experience to our Village Board to help us make sound financial decisions," Deerfield Mayor Daniel C. Shapiro said. "But more than that, Bill cared about Deerfield and wanted to make it a better place for its residents. He was a friend to all of us and will be missed."

Seiden's term was to run through 2027.
