New Arts Festival Set To Launch At Deerfield High School

Professional artists from multiple diverse disciplines will be part of Arts Alive!

DEERFIELD, IL — A new arts festival is coming to Deerfield High School in April. Arts Alive! will feature professional artists from multiple diverse disciplines April 15 through April 19. The artists will present workshops, masterclasses and performances for DHS students with a final live assembly for the entire school.

A professional art expo is planned to culminate the weeklong event on April 20. The family-friendly expo is open to the public and free from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thirty professional artists will show their work, demonstrate their techniques, and allow the public to get hands-on with projects.

According to organizers, artistic disciplines represented at the Expo will include: digital caricatures, weaving, puppetry, silk painting, Henna, paper quilling, masking tape sculpture, floral painting, diary boxes, glass blowing, printmaking, mosaics, ceramics, encaustic painting, collage, silversmith, origami, mural, mixed media and more.

There will also be pop-up performances, including a puppet show, drum circles, an interactive dance performance, wandering giant puppets, as well as a very special vocal performance by DHS students. AP DHS student artists will have a chance to show their work as well.
