North Suburban Church Hosting 20th Annual Project Share Event

Volunteers are welcome to join in packing food baskets on Nov 18, 8:30-11:30 am.

Deerfield, IL - On Saturday morning, November 18th, North Suburban Church will hold its 20th annual Project Share event in Deerfield (200 Lake Cook Rd). Project Share is a community outreach event where church members and volunteers assemble and distribute food baskets to under-resourced families in the Chicagoland area. The event starts at 8:30 am and goes until 11:30 am.

The event spans over two days. On Thursday afternoon, November 16th, volunteers gather to unload pallets of food items from Sunset Foods, which provides the food at cost. Items include frozen meats, cereal, canned goods, pasta, rice, potatoes, and prepared foods.

On Saturday morning, November 18th, hundreds of volunteers will assemble the food into laundry baskets for distribution. Each food basket is designed to provide for a family of 4-6 members. This year, the goal is to pack 1,440 baskets.

The packed food baskets are picked up by 13 ministry partner organizations across the Chicago area that have direct contact with under-resourced families. One recipient organization is Family Empowerment Centers (FEC), whose vision is to “build whole people, whole families, and whole communities, thereby transforming the culture of mission and ministry.” Scott Manke, founder and Executive Director of FEC said, "Our partnership over the years with Project Share has allowed us to feed well over a thousand families and bring the hope of Christ to them; we just couldn’t have done that without North Sub Church.”

Senior Pastor Tim Higgins of North Suburban Church added, “Seeing two hundred people young and old join together in a common cause is a great reflection of this Thanksgiving season. Project Share is a chance for our congregation and community to give back out of the blessing we're so grateful to have received."
