Owner Of Swansons Blossom Shop Remembered In Deerfield

The family-owned floral business continues to serve multi-generational families throughout the area, according to the DBR Chamber.

Helen Schneider, nee King, age 98, was the true matriarch of her family. Helen, along with her husband Abe, purchased in the mid 1950's Swanson The Florist in Rogers Park. They relocated in 1987 to Deerfield, under the name of Swansons Blossom Shop, which remains a family owned floral business serving multi-generational families throughout the Chicagoland community. Helen was the beloved wife and best friend for almost 66 years of the late Abe Schneider; loving mother of Sharon (Glenn) Liss and Renee (Ron) Becker; adored Nanny of Amy (Andy) Cole, Carrie (Stephen) Baron, Scott (Allyson) Becker, Stephanie (Shawn) Tasman, and the late Todd Becker; great Nanny of Seth, Bradley, Shae, Kylie, Charlie, Ethan, Braden, and Talia; devoted daughter of the late Charles and the late Sylvia King; cherished sister of Neeny (Sonny) Lukatsky; dear sister-in-law of the late Ruth (late Lester) Berman and the late Edith (late Alan) Abramson; treasured aunt, great aunt and friend to many. She left an indelible mark on everyone she profoundly touched. Helen was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. Service Wednesday, 12 Noon CT at the Westlawn Cemetery Chapel, 7801 W. Montrose Ave., Norridge, with the interment to immediately follow. The service will be livestreamed on Helen's webpage at www.goldmanfuneralgroup.com.
