Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony Recognizes 50 Years For Deerfields Bakery

DEERFIELD, IL — Reaching a golden anniversary in business is a pretty impressive feat these days with fewer and fewer staying around long enough to do it. Deerfields Bakery is the latest North Shore establishment to reach 50 years, a milestone that was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony last week.

On Sept. 20, the owners met with Deerfield Mayor Daniel Shapiro and others to commemorate the occasion. Deerfields Bakery simultaneously held a grand re-opening following major renovations at 813 N. Waukegan Road.

"We feel honored that the mayor want to do this with us and show the support. It shows what a close-knit community Deerfield is," Deerfields Bakery owner Adriene Phillips recently told Patch. "Everyone [in the community] just jumps in and supports each other."

While a second location in Buffalo Grove (201 N. Buffalo Grove Road) has remained open following renovations there last year, the Deerfield bakery had been closed since Aug. 2, but is now reopened with a number of updates and changes.

Deerfields Bakery offers a vast amount of items for hungry customers to buy including specialty cakes, doughnuts, cookies, croissants and many custom-made items.

Phillips and fellow ownership partners, Ford Culbertson and Alex Kovacs, bought the bakery and company in November 2018.
