DEERFIELD, IL — While President Ronald Reagan was well-known for his love of jelly beans, he also had an affinity for another sweet creation, so much so he declared a month and day in honor of it. In 1984, Reagan proclaimed July as "National Ice Cream Month" and the third Sunday of July as "National Ice Cream Day."

This year, National Ice Cream Day is scheduled for Sunday. Ice cream shops and stores across the United States are offering special deals. For example, Dairy Queen will have a "sweet" deal available through its app. Baskin-Robbins is also offering some savings starting Sunday through July 22. As always, it's best practice to check ahead with your local shop to see if that location is participating.
