Village Of Deerfield: Art Program Soliciting Artwork Loans From Artists

This is the ninth call for artists in the program, which has featured more than 100 pieces from local, regional and national artists.

The Deerfield Public Art Program is soliciting artwork loans from artists to display in public places for one year. Artists must be willing to loan works of art for public display for up to one year. The Deerfield Fine Arts Commission will review artwork proposals submitted by artists interested in having their works displayed in the community as part of this public art initiative.

The program is soliciting paintings, murals, drawings, and other pieces that could be displayed in Village Hall, Public Works, Deerfield Park District facilities, the Deerfield Public Library and the sculpture park at the corner of Waukegan and Deerfield Roads.

The Deerfield Public Art Program is open to all visual artists who meet the following criteria:

The primary goal of the Deerfield Public Art Program is to publicly display in very visible and accessible locations works of art created by local, regional, national and international artists.

Prospective artists are invited to propose an artwork for display.

The specific artwork selected for display will be reviewed via jury process. The Fine Arts Commission is responsible for reviewing artwork submissions and making a final recommendation to the Village Manager’s Office regarding final artwork selections.

Artists may submit up to three pieces of art for consideration. Artists must submit a completed application packet for each individual artwork being submitted. The deadline for submissions is April 12, 2024. Applications are available at on the Village’s website.

The Fine Arts Commission will host a community open house to showcase the selected pieces on Tuesday, May 21, at the Deerfield Public Library, 920 Waukegan Road, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
