More Child Luring In Elmhurst? Girl Reports Strange Man Faked Being Uber Driver To Get Her In His Car

The girl told the man the ride wasn't for her, and he left the area.

Just days after Elmhurst police confirmed a late February incident as possible child luring, reports have surfaced of another suspicious situation.

An underage girl was reportedly waiting to be picked up from dance practice at First and Commerce Feb. 28 when a man approached her in his gray minivan. It was 7:25 p.m. at the time, according to police reports, and already dark outside.

The girl told cops that the man, described as a white male in his 30’s, rolled his window down and said he was an Uber driver there to pick her up. The girl said she told the man the ride wasn’t for her and that he then left the area northbound on Commerce.

In a Feb. 20 incident, an underage boy was approached by a middle-aged man in a red van while he was standing outside of his house on West Lorraine Avenue. The man asked him if he’d be willing to get into the car with him to search for his missing blind dog, which police subsequently located in the man’s yard. The boy didn't get into the car and was unharmed.
