EVANSTON, IL — Cities and villages across the country continue to bring back many of the traditional Independence Day activities that were either canceled or modified the last two years. With July 4 less than two weeks away, it's time to find out what Fourth of July fireworks and festivities are going on near you in 2022.

The Evanston Fourth of July Association, a nonprofit established after a child was injured while playing with fireworks, marks the 100th anniversary of its founding this year.

Here's a list of Evanston's scheduled festivals and parades to start planning for the holiday:

What: Morning Games
When: Starting 9 a.m. (Event information)
Where: Baker Park, Forest Avenue and Keeney Street; ETHS West Field, Church Street and Dodge Avenue; Fleetwood-Jourdain Center, Foster Street and Darrow Avenue; Kamen Park East, South Boulevard and Barton Avenue; Lincolnwood School, McDaniel Avenue and Grant Street; Robert Crown Center, Main Street and Dodge Avenue; Willard School, Central Park Avenue and Park Place

What: Evanston 4th of July Kids Fun Run
When: 12:45 p.m. (registration available online or starting at noon on July 4)
Where: Ackerman Park, Central Street and McDaniel Avenue

What: Evanston 4th of July Parade
When: 2 p.m.
Where: Central Street at Central Park Avenue

The 2022 parade theme is "Celebrating For 100 Years-The Evanston Fourth of July Association."

What: Evanston July 4 Concert and Fireworks
When: 7:30 to 9 p.m. Palatine Concert Band, with fireworks approximately 9:30 p.m.
Where: Dawes Park, Sheridan Road and Church Street

Fireworks are set to be visible from most lakefront parks, and residents can tune in 90.5 FM for audio accompaniment.
