Sabra Recalls 30,000 Cases of Classic Hummus

The product has a possible Listeria contamination.

Double check the codes on your hummus. The Sabra brand of original hummus is the most recent in a string of recalls.

First there was a Kraft Mac and Cheese recall, when metal pieces were found in the product.

Then, Trader Joes recalled walnuts that possible were contaminated with salmonella.

A second walnut recall followed and then we found out our wine might have arsenic.

The Food and Drug Administration announced the hummus recall Wednesday.

The potential for contamination was discovered when a routine, random sample collected at a retail location on March 30th, 2015 by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes, the FDA Web site states.

The products being recalled are sold nationwide across all stores and supermarkets, and consumers can find the affected codes below on the top of the packages:

  • 040822011143/300067 -- Sabra Classic Hummus, 10 oz -- 3.059 Best before May 11, 2015.
  • 040822011143/300067 -- Sabra Classic Hummus, 10 oz -- 3.060 Best before May 15, 2015.
  • 040822014687/300074 -- Sabra Classic Hummus, 20 oz -- 3.059 Best before May 11, 2015.
  • 040822342049/301216 -- Sabra Classic Hummus without Garnish, 32 oz - 3.059 Best before May 11, 2015
  • 040822017497/301290 -- Sabra Classic Hummus, 17 oz Six Pack -- 3.058 Best before May 11, 2015
  • 040822017497/301290 -- Sabra Classic Hummus, 17 oz Six Pack -- 3.059 Best before May 11, 2015
  • 040822342209/301283 -- Hummus Dual Pack Classic/Garlic, 23.5 oz -- 3.058 Best before May 11, 2015

The FDA reported there have been no reported illnesses associated with the product.
