Maggie Speaks, the Chicago-based world-renowned cover band that has performed in 13 countries and 34 states, turns 26 this summer! In celebration, Founder Dave Calzaretta has announced the Maggie Speaks 26th Birthday Show featuring a 90s night concert with special guest Chris Barron, lead singer of the Spin Doctors. The celebration takes place on Thursday, Aug. 15 at CD and Me located at 23320 S. La Grange Rd. 

“One of the greatest part of Maggie Speaks is the incredible musical talent that we have had the honor of taking the stage with,” says Calzaretta, who founded Maggie Speaks in 1998 and has developed it into Chicago’s most popular cover band as well as a globally in-demand group that travels the world to perform. “Over the years, we have played with some of the industry’s biggest legends. We are thrilled to be playing with the iconic Chris Barron in celebration of our 26th birthday this August.”

Chris Barron is the voice of the Spin Doctors whose popular hits such as “Two Princes,” “Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong” and “Jimmy Olsen Blues” became anthems of the 1990s. The Maggie Speaks 26th Birthday Show will feature these songs amid a complete setlist of favorite classics that will have concert-goers dancing their way into 90s nostalgia.

Showtime begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person, plus taxes and fees, and are on sale now via <a data-auth="NotApplicable" rel="nofollow" href="https://www.cdandme.co/" data-linkindex="1" target="_blank">cdandme.co</a>.

Join the Manhattan Township Historical Society for an evening of humor and education when it hosts Mr. Bill Mueller on Tuesday, August 20th at 6:30 pm. 
 Mr. Mueller will share from his second book Time to Ship Another Steer, which will take an interesting look at growing up on the family farm in Kenosha, Wisconsin with ten brothers and sisters. He also has tips on family genealogy. The evening promises to be an enjoyable and entertaining event so please join us at the 255 S. State Street Museum. He retired after 31 years from Maquoketa, Iowa where he also coached wrestling. He is now in his 11th year teaching driver’s education at the Mississippi Bend AEA. He has many hobbies which include speaking, writing, reading, learning, visiting family and friends, bicycling, swimming, gardening, and solving sudoku and playing Schafkoph (Sheepshead) a German card game. Bill was also the recipient of the “Project Business Teacher of the Year” award from Junior Achievement of the Quad Cities and at that same ceremony was inducted into their Hall of Fame.

Frankfort&rsquo;s Operation Playground Foundation Named July 2024 Non-Profit Hero by Sterk Family Law Group
Operation Playground Foundation has been honored by Sterk Family Law Group, P.C. as the July 2024 Non-Profit Hero.
Operation Playground Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization and was established in 2000 by a group of volunteers in Frankfort, Illinois.
The group&rsquo;s initial project was the construction of Fort Frankfort, a children's park which is situated within Commissioner's Park located at Laraway Road and S. 80th Ave.
Operation Playground Foundation&rsquo;s second major project was Frankfort Bark Park, a dog park with a state-of-the-art gate and monitoring system. The dog park which opened in May of 2007 sits on three acres of land at the northwest corner of Commissioner's Park.
Recent projects include funding of the 3-on-3 basketball half courts at Main Park and installation of the Ga-Ga pit at Commissioners Park.
Operation Playground continuously raises money year-round to maintain both of these parks as well as adding amenities or enhancements to other Frankfort parks. 
Operation Playground is a 501(c)(3) organization, and your donation is tax deductible.&nbsp;

Your donation goes directly to fund their projects. All&nbsp;board and committee members are volunteers and&nbsp;there is no paid position within Operation Playground.
