Frankfort Burglar Caught In Mokena: Police

A man broke into a vehicle Wednesday at the Frankfort Post Office, according to police.

FRANKFORT, IL — At least one person was arrested for a burglary in Frankfort Wednesday, according to a news release from Frankfort Police Department.

Frankfort police responded to a report of a vehicle broken into at the Frankfort Post Office at approximately 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, according to the release. Witnesses were able to provide a description of the burglar and said he fled in a white Kia, police said.

That information was shared with neighboring police departments. Mokena police spotted the vehicle in the area of Francis Road and Townline Road, police said. After a Mokena police officer pulled the vehicle over, a passenger in the back seat got out and ran, said Mokena Police Interim Chief Brian Benton.

That person was caught and found with items from the Frankfort burglary, Benton said. Frankfort police arrived on the scene and placed him under arrest, Benton said.

Benton was not able to provide information about the person arrested, and there was similarly no details of the arrest in the Frankfort PD release.

It remains unclear if others in the vehicle were arrested, as well.

Frankfort police said the burglary appeared to be isolated, and that the investigation is ongoing.
