Frankfort PD Seeking Assistance In Attempted Ruse Burglary Case

Police are looking for two people who claimed to be with a utility company and attempted to steal from a Frankfort homeowner.

FRANKFORT, IL — The Frankfort Police Department is on the lookout for two people in connection with an attempted ruse burglary Thursday.

The two people are described by police as both white men who were wearing dark clothes, according to a news release from Frankfort Police Department. No additional identifying descriptions were provided by police.

At approximately 1:10 p.m. Thursday, police responded to a call for the ruse burglary in the 400 block of Linden Court. Police said the men claimed to work for a utility department and were allowed access into the home. The men said they were there for a downed tree in the backyard and a water issue, according to police.

The men asked the people in the home to go to the basement with one of the men while the other man stayed upstairs, police said.

Nothing was taken from the home and no one was hurt, police said.

Police are warning residents to verify the identity of any workers who show up to a home. Legitimate workers will have credentials to verify for whom they work. One can also call the employer's listed telephone number to verify the workers. If there are suspicions about any workers, people should call the Frankfort Police Department for help.
