Armed Robbery At Frankfort Speedway: Sheriff

Police said an armed robber forced employees and a customer to the ground and stole approximately $300 in cash just before midnight Tuesday.

FRANKFORT, IL — The Will County Sheriff's Office is looking for a man they said robbed a Speedway in Frankfort at gunpoint just before midnight Tuesday.

Police said they are looking for a black man, approximately 20-30 years old, who is around 5-feet 8-inches tall and weighs around 150 pounds.

The man entered the Speedway, located at 19730 S. Harlem Ave., wearing an N-95 mask, according to the Will County Sheriff's Office. He grabbed some items from inside the gas station and proceeded to get in line. While in line, the man turned to the customer behind him and flashed a gun that was in his waistband, police said.

The man ordered the customer and two employees to the ground and stole approximately $300 from the cash register, according to police. No one was hurt during the robbery, police said.

Police are reviewing video surveillance from the robbery and other evidence collected at the scene. The man is seen approaching the Speedway on foot and fled on foot before police arrived, police said.
