GENEVA, IL — Geneva's Natural Resources Committee is planning a Fox River cleanup day Sept. 21, and commissioners are looking for volunteers to help with the project.

From 9 a.m. to noon, the committee is planning to clean up two spots in the river that runs through Geneva in light of Union Pacific's ongoing Third Main Line project, according to a news release.

It's the committee's 14th Fox River cleanup day.

"We will again be part of the Friends of the Fox Rivers' initiative to remove debris between Wisconsin and Ottawa!" reads a handout about the event.

Volunteers who wouldn't mind getting muddy and wet should meet at the Fabyan Forest Preserve parking lot accessible from Route 25 just south of the Fabyan windmill. Those who want to lend a helping hand but remain dry and on land will meet at Island Park, 2 E. State St., on the spillway near the playground.

Anyone with questions about the effort should contact Natural Resources Committee member Kelvin Limbrick via email.
