Spraying Scheduled After Mosquito Tests Positive For West Nile Virus In Geneva

A mosquito surveillance trap recently tested positive for the West Nile Virus in Geneva, the city said Monday.

GENEVA, IL — Mosquito spraying is planned from dusk Tuesday into dawn Wednesday in light of a surveillance trap recently testing positive in Geneva, officials said.

Geneva is joining its neighbors in conducting the spaying to reduce the adult insect population.

The city's contractor, Clarke, will use a synthetic treatment that's safe for humans and pets; however, people with asthma and other respiratory conditions are advised to stay indoors and close their windows during application until an hour after.
